Just in time to read in front of the fire with a cup of cocoa or your favorite hot beverage, J. J. Lyon’s fun private investigator mystery, with a twist, TRUTH is RELATIVE; the first in the A Truth Inducer Mystery series is here. A giveaway, great posts, reviews and best of all? Fun! My post today is pretty fun. I am really hooked at authors sending me their Top Ten Comfort Food lists. I have really had fun creating new recipes, adapting others and digging out old classics. Today’s was inspired when I re-read the first line in this book; “The Monday before Thanksgiving, my car disappeared… ” and by my theme of comfort foods and vices while writing. The book is in my TBR but before I posted I read a the first couple chapters and can tell you right now I am going to love the read if it continues in this manner. Thanks J. J. Lyon!

Isis-Vampires-and-Ghost-Oh-My-Button-300-x-225This week I am having a ball with recipes and reviews and digging in and finding out the comfort foods from each of the wonderful authors I have been honored to have on my blog. A bit different than my normal Banned Book Week but hey! Today’s comfort food was my challenge until I looked up a recipe online and realized this was what I used to make all the time in New England.

Today it’s all about the Book.. about the book, no trouble .. ok don’t mind me, I am working through pain medication and am prepping as many posts as I can this week so I can lay in bed again after surgery! I missed a post for one author yesterday and did not get it up till 8PM (about two hours after I dragged my butt out of bed) and as for today’s post? I have been waiting to publish my review for over a month. Today is the REVIEW BLITZ/BLAST for Angela Dennis’ second in her Shadow Born series, FADING LIGHTAngela Dennis was here earlier this year with the first in the series, Shadows of Fate and I posted my latke recipe.  We had a gay ol’ time and I absolutely fell in love with this series.

The-Haunting-of-Secrets-ButtonFirst I want to apologize for this being late to both the author and Bewitching Tours. I am dealing with the Toothapocalypse 2014 and basically have been in bed since Thursday morning. I have surgery Tuesday and so I am getting this up asap plus a couple others just in case I am out of it afterwards.

What to do with that left over spaghetti sauce – Budget #Cooking

Posted by on Aug 5, 2014 in Cabin Cooking, Featured Posts, Vegetarian | 0 comments

cooking-on-a-budgetAs many of you know I am a chili aficionado. I make some kick ass chili both with and without meat. Last week I posted a vegetarian chili recipe which I slow cook and I have also posted my full meat infused slow cooker chili which my kids beg me to make every time we get together. When I made chili for them it had to be made in our Nesco slow cooker, all 18 quarts of it. Those are a kitchens best friend especially when you feed big groups of folks. You can have your oven ready and cook in the roaster. I managed to trick my ex into getting one to roast my turkey in when I noted that I could make 18  quarts of chili all at once (never before had I seen the credit card be whipped out as fast as it did that day).

“Drowned” in No-Bake Peanut Butter & Oreo™ Cookie Bars with @NicholaReilly

Posted by on Jul 14, 2014 in Books, Cabin Cooking, Dessert, Giveaways & Contests, Lady Reader's Book Stuff | 3 comments

I am a huge fan of three things within this post.. Dystopian fiction, easy-recipes and Oreo™ cookies! Let’s deal with why they are the trifecta of today’s post. Dystopian fiction usually depicts some kind of hardship. Many times it is post-apocalyptic or an alternative future where things are bleak. Drowned is full of bleakness and despair. But where the leading lady, our protagonist lives maybe a little comfort and treat would help you feel a bit better and I know Oreo™ cookies always make me feel better, and let’s face it.. if I can share a really good recipe and pin it with a great book, you know I will! Oh and this is NO-BAKE!
