Dystopian Novels, do they translate across decades? WE HAVE A WINNER!

Posted by on Nov 8, 2012 in Books, Cabin Commentary, Indie Projects & Promotions | 35 comments

Welcome To A Possible Future

WE HAVE A WINNER!!

CONGRATS! CAROLINE!

Caroline McMasters, you choose KINGDOM! I cannot wait to hear your thoughts!

New VS Classic Dystopia, or is it?

I jumped on this hop because I love dystopic fiction with strong speculative questions. Dystopia asks the big what ifs… what is the worse case scenario that will come out of new technologies, the perils and the pitfalls? What are the looming dangers to both personal liberty and the very nature of humanity with draconian political trends and shifts in government policies on the global stage?

when a book takes you to a place you don’t want to go (emotional response)

Posted by on Jul 23, 2012 in Authors, Books, Cabin Commentary, Novel Publicity | 6 comments

This is a bit of wandering off the path of a regular tour entry, so if you were looking for a review, you will not find it here. What you will find is the reason I could not finish the book and how books, like any other form of art can evoke a powerful emotional response, both the good and the bad. If you choose to read this, I want to also thank the author Lane Diamond and Novel Publicity.

WARNING This reveals personal VIOLENCE against me. It does not describe or go into detail, but if reading about violence against someone is not something you care to read, gloss over the first three paragraphs or do not read at all!

Today is my day to review Forgive Me, Alex by Lane Diamond but today I will not be. Many of you guys read my Teaser Tuesdays post last week, and like me were intrigued about this book. I was still under the first 20%. Well, I have not finished the book and probably will not be at any time in the future. Probably for the same reasons I won’t pick up any of the Dexter books and avoid books about the dark and vicious lives of serial killers and serial rapists. I am the victim of a serial rapist. I do not want to read about it, I lived it. I do not want to see inside the mind of one.

A Cover Whore’s River of Denial – Is the Cover Really Dead?

Musing Mondays {June 18}

This Week: To have or Have not...

Musing Mondays is a weekly event hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. Each week MizB asks a book related question and bloggers answer with their thoughts about the given topic.

This Week’s Musing..

MzB read an article, this past week, about book covers, and the difference between print & digital covers; about how the digital covers have almost disappeared entirely, while publishers decide to just skip right to the content. I to went and read this article and I suggest you get yourself over there and read the article too! Here is what this week’s muse presents for pondering, I hope you guys join in?

What do you think about this? Do you think the book cover is “dead”? Do you care whether the “covers” on digital books exist or not?

New Release – Buzz Words by Doug Lucas

Buzz Words by Doug Lucas

Most of us think we understand how police investigations work. We’ve seen them depicted on television so often we believe it’s really only one or two hardnosed, lone wolf detectives who will shoot, punch or intimidate criminals as they investigate crimes and apply justice in their own way. The image fiction has imprinted on minds is one of fast paced, rough and tumble fearless officers who are always at odds with their bosses, politicians and the law. They also manage to solve every crime in the amount of time allotted for the shows time slot, normally in forty-five minutes or less after you remove the commercials.

‘Days with the Undead’ by Julianne Snow – review

One of the first publications out of Sirens Call Publications which as of the revamping of this review has since published some amazing pieces, anthologies and shorts. They are extremely professional and highly passionate about their work, especially to bring back the shadows and cobwebs on our ereaders and bookshelves (smiling innocently). I highly urge you if you are looking for a good read, entertaining newsletter and a staff of professionals anyone would be proud working with.
