Time to Knit & Reflecting on Time with @LynneCantwell – #OneWord2014

We are still working on the inside of this website/database, Cabin Goddess… well.. it is horked. Apparently the website has been chasing the dragon behind all of our backs. Sigh. On top of all of that my own body decided to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of these yahoos here in Alaska and get the Swine Flu. H1N1 SUCKS ASS! So I am throwing a bunch of memes together LOL, Wordless Wednesday, my #OneWord365 of Time and my weekly posting of my #365Project (yes I am still writing on it but since my website is horked and doing drugs I am only going to post something once a week till it is up).

To Katie With Love

Continuing the Katie Week of Glory *giggling* oh heck let’s face it, I have been sucked into this lovely chick-flick world of Katie and Cooper, one amazing page at time. Plus… there is bacon in the book, how can I not like…no love it! Today I give you my review & a recipe, tomorrow she will be here for Fourth-Wall Friday and Saturday for an interview. I have been taken over by Katie! (don’t forget to enter the giveaway!)

Review

Reading this book was a blast. I am not openly into chick-lit but I love a good chick-flick so it was no surprise I was tempted to pull on my university logo sweat pants with a whole in the knee, put my hair in a side ponytail order pizza or zap a Lean Cuisine meal, grab a box o’ wine and dig into it. This book was a pure delight to read. Twists and turns and as it says on the book cover “Who would have thought having an assassin as a boyfriend would be the least of her problems!” Perhaps if she took a cold shower under all four shower heads in the Chandelier Room with Adjoining Toilet (CRWAT – yes you will have to read the book to understand the context) and perhaps she could have some clarity.

The story is fast paced and seemingly has the typical insta-love at the very beginning like every other romance novel out there. But the fact is both of them have been having feelings  for each other for longer than the “first chapter”. The truth is Cooper Maxwell had her as his personal banker for over a year and as we will learn he has had his eye on her for a very long time.  Dean has written Katie, Cooper and the rest of the “cast” into believable, over the top and yet still well-rounded. Katie makes me want to give her a hug and a makeover at the beginning with her insecurities and total inability to handle a healthy relationship. Instead of accepting what Cooper is offering her at face value she starts letting her very vivid imagination get the best of her… despite the fact he fed her bacon. See, this would be it with me. I would not question him after the bacon no matter how many mysterious money transfers and bodies were piling up… (just saying!!)

THE AIRPLANE CRASH SANDWICH – Charred Flesh on Toast

Posted by on Jul 15, 2012 in Bacon, Cabin Cooking, Humor, Photos | 4 comments

At least that is what came of the #SundayShorts Read-a-long creation from my grill this past Saturday morning.  I innocently was posting via instagram my food and snacks to add a little typical Cabin Goddess flavor to what is probably going to become a new once a month read-a-long of Novella and had a lot of fun. Heck any excuse to eat bacon and I am ALL over that like white on rice, or the char piece of BBQ’ed bacon in the morning! I had already made enough Bacon Popcorn for three lunch sack size snacks. I figured with a novella all I would need is snacks and one main dish, and I was right!

What’s in your Snack Pile? – Bacon Popcorn

B is for Bacon: Bacon Popcorn (reblogged from Daily Dish Recipes)

Totally re-blogged from Nicole Cook, who I consider to be my favorite Maven of the Alphabet this time around, despite the fact my ass grew at least a size during the A to Z challenge! So I saved this post from Day 2 of the A-Z Challenge this past April. The letter is  B. And what better food than bacon! )

This weekend The Indie Exchange is hosting #SundayShorts with Harlow Drake’s book Life in Death and we are having a read-a-thon. All of us are stocking up on snacks in preparation and since we are having a Twitter Chat over at TweetChat.com (check out the rules and all the particulars HERE) we want to have to have to stay stuck to our reader and computer! I am making a big ol’ pile of this tonight to be prepared and bagging it in paper bags. I have a gallon of sweet tea, some iced coffee and Geoff also brought me home Sea Salt and Vinegar Kettle Chips and a big ol’ thing of Cottage cheese!
