Gingerbread Cafe Coffee
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 6 cups hot brewed coffee (Italian or something very dark and rich)
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1½ cups sweetened whipped cream (the real kind)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  1. With a small hand whisk, mix together the molasses, brown sugar, baking soda, ginger and cinnamon until well blended.
  2. Place a small plate over the top (do NOT seal it with a Tupperware cover or plastic wrap, don't know why but every time I do that it bubbles)
  3. Add about ¼ cup coffee to each of the 6 cups.
  4. Stir about a tablespoon of the spice mixture into each cup until dissolved.
  5. Fill each cup to within an inch of the top with coffee.
  6. Stir in half and half to taste and garnish with whipped cream and ground cloves. (you can also do a less strong sprinkling of ginger, cloves & touch of cocoa)
