Stephen Zimmer - Fourth-Wall FridayStephen showed up the cabin with bacon, a four-pack of Monster Energy Drinks and these three books with this wild look in his eyes. He suggested I take a walk with him.. I knew he wanted to tell me about how much Boston had affected him, and he knew how it affected me but I had no clue he was going to tell me about a strange meeting… my mouth watered all I saw was bacon…

Marilyn Monroe

Cyndi Lauper

RJ’s Obsession

Or, seriously, what’s with the constant Cyndi Lauper posts?

Since Haunting Obsession features a thinly veiled homage to Marilyn Monroe, and is the story of someone who takes his fandom way too far, it’s easy to assume I’m an over-the-top fan of Monroe. And yes, I do fixate on many things Marilyn. But she is not the person I am most obsessed about.

I also love pop music of all eras. But I am a child of the 80s. I was in the tenth grade in 1983, a couple years after M-TV debuted, so the woman who stands above everyone else in my pop music universe is Cyndi Lauper.

Making Bacon with Stephen Zimmer

I want to say a special thank you to Stephen Zimmer and Seventh Star Press for letting me host during this EPIC virtual book tour for the release the third book in the Fire of Eden series,  Spirit of Fire. Also for attempting to talk about epic fantasy writing. Yes I say attempt for apparently there should be a disclaimer when dealing directly with me for to long.. something perhaps like:

*shaking head* Seriously, am I really that scary? Perhaps occasionally I stand on the hill in my snowbound fortress, gazing at the roaming hordes of carefully maintained stripper zombies as they keep the perimeter clear of the militants from up on the ridge and eating the mutant squirrels before they get to the rafters to eat all our insulation. The breeze rippling through my homespun sun bleached woolen robe, embroidered with thread made by the Inuit’s in tribute with the shed fur from their prize sled dogs. Thread which is woven through with gold, edging my robs in a unique Athabaskan pattern…What can I say, the Unifier had awesome taste in outfits!  Maybe I can be a bit scary,  I will direct the mice to prepare BiPolar Pumpkin to deliver to you a few cases of our prized Bush Town flavor Monster Energy Drink as a tribute from my lands!

In a Coffee Shop (Fourth-Wall Friday Author Spotlight with D. David Blalock)

In a Coffee Shop (Fourth-Wall Friday Author Spotlight with D. David Blalock)

Fourth-Wall Friday is a new feature where I get to feature a author I have either reviewed, will review or have yet to review or just have over for Tea and Bacon! It is an idea which stemmed from a piece that Natasha Troop did for me while I was still reading the first in her series Lakebridge Cycle (which I reviewed last Saturday). It is in a way a form of interactive inner conversation in which the author is presenting him or herself in a way that adds even more depth and enlightenment to their own author persona, their writing and the world from their tales.

Today I am honored to have a piece from you that after seeing these two  at the coffee shop I quickly asked if H. David Blalock from Angelkiller fame if he would be so kind as to let us into his conversation, this is what he shared.

They have moved on, the survivors. After they buried their dead and said the words, they moved on to continue the Conflict elsewhere, as they have done hundreds of times before.

But before they did, they talked to me.

I think I am just another way to fight the endless Conflict, another tool in their armory, though I use words instead of bullets and novels instead of bombs. They told me they used every method possible to accomplish their goal, and I am happy… no, I am honored to be one.

I escaped a Wildfire, fell asleep in the sun & Drank Sweet Tea

I escaped a Wildfire, fell asleep in the sun & Drank Sweet TeaI read a total of 83 pages Today

Am reading Crown of Vengeance

by Stephen Zimmer

(I escaped a wildfire! When I did try to read it was SO warm I kept falling asleep despite the fact the cat kept trying to wake me up. Then my mother and daughter call me in panic because I was not online.  My e-mail was blowing up because I took the day off yesterday to get stuff done and was not online this morning. Then I started procrastinating and ummm ended up having 3-hour phone call to Shannon Mayer this morning. When I finally decided I had enough, I left the phone inside, changing my voice mail to tell people I was alive but reading ALONE (I wanna be a HERMIT, A HERMIT!)  What is so freaking funny is I slathered up in bug spray, lit three Tiki torches full of Citronella oil and sat down to read. Thinking quite mistakenly I would stay awake outside. I feel asleep…. FOR THREE HOURS. I am now covered in bug bites, the torches ran out  and so did the bug spray apparently!!  So ya I had EPIC fail, but I have four more days, right?
