Snow Blood by @CarolMcKibben #Vampire Dog? Oh ya… #review #giveaway
Kinda got a theme going here! It is another book with a dog in it. Snow Blood, however, is from the actual dogs point of view… and the dog gets turned into a vampire… ahhhh… yep! *deep breath* Are you scratching your head? So was I. But the writing is not sloppy and the editing is clean. Therefor the far fetched idea about a dog becoming a vampire was woven into a story you can lose yourself in and dispel belief at times. If you are a paranormal romance reader, you probably will love this more than I did. It is not a story I probably will continue past this one, but that’s me. I’m picky about my paranormal reads, especially when you are messing with established arc’s and conventions.
Going to be honest here, it really was not for me. Maybe because of the books I have been reading lately, but I got to the part when Snow finds out he is a vampire (in the first 5%) and I just couldn’t dispel my belief. Because of this, I put the book down several times until I finally pushed my way through. About half-way through episode 3, it became enduring and likable and I ended up being glad I finished it. That being said, again, the book was well written. It needed more depth to the world build, especially when paired with the good character builds.
I have read a few books where our protagonist has four legs and Snow is one that may not be one I am completely hung up on, but I know several of you who read my reviews would really enjoy this book. Especially if you are an animal lover. The vamps? The myths? The different take on the gods? Well… I could take or leave it. If you are someone who knows the myths and are a stickler for story classical story arcs you maybe frustrated like I was. I am glad I read the book and I do recommend it to anyone who is a paranormal romance lover.
This is not Carol’s first book from a dogs perspective. Luke’s Tale is another book available by the author.

I so want to read this book. What an exciting premise. I love vampires and I love dogs. In Snow Blood, they come together. I can’t wait to see how the author pulls this off.
Thanks for sharing, Kriss. This is on my Santa list now:)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
As a dog lover, sounds like an interesting read. I love the different ideas about vamps and were-animals so this really appeals to me!
