Who I am and all I believe is marred with just one glance into angry, steel blue eyes. He seems to control my air, my ability to breathe. He makes me crave everything I know is a sin. Pure becomes tainted and lines are blurred. It's my fault; I'm the one who isn't strong enough. I've been damaged...broken. Breck's words haunt me...'There's a consequence for every choice you make.'

I've had so many women I can't even remember over half of their names, but none of them are mine; I make damn sure of that. I take what I desire and never look back. I don't need or want anyone, ever...not until I met Emma. Those eyes bore into what's left of my soul and her touch sears me, weakens me. I want to hate her for that. She is my sweetest hell.

Disclaimer: Intended for readers 18+ due to strong language, mature scenes, and some violence.

I received this book from Bewitching Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

This book was definitely not what I was expecting. In some ways it was truly better. For some odd reason I thought this was going to be an erotica novella and while it does have some pretty serious smexy and steamy scenes in it, the romance is what bit me in my literature love zone.

The characters and the circumstances that the author puts them in, were so real that I just couldn’t turn my kindle off until I finished it. ( I read it in a couple of hours but I am a speed reader so most could probably get through it in a day or two.) My interpretation of the characters were just a bit over-dramatized but in a really well thought out way. They balanced each other in a sense. For example you have the girl that everyone wants to coddle and you have the guy that can’t be bothered with that kind of intimacy. You also have the side characters or supporting and non supporting characters if you will. The father that for all intense purposes loves his daughter and just wants to protect her and then you have the jerk that just wants to control her in a bad way.

I cringed at some of the harsh things that were said, but in the context of the novella’s storyline I think I was supposed to react that way. Over all I felt that it was a really good read and the author will definitely go on my keep an eye out for list of future work.

Now to get to the smexy aspect of the book and leave all the formality behind. Part of me wanted to clutch my pearls and the other part of me wanted to growl like a tiger or purr in a very aggressive manor. Can we say yummy. Breck is a total manwhore and a complete hotty that wants what he wants and is just that good that he usually gets it. Until he meets Miss Emma and the sparks fly, she tries really hard not to allow his pick up lines to affect her but the chemistry between them is not quite lava hot but it could melt glass. The steam between them and their back and forth verbal jabs had me laughing and wanting to jump in and give my two cents too especially with her ex Justin. If ever there was a character that could freeze up all my fun parts he would be the one.

I would recommend this book to Romance readers who like a little smexy with their wooing.

Kickin' Mango Chicken
  • 4 Boneless chicken breasts – halved.
  • ½ c Cilantro – finely chopped
  • ½ c Onion – finely chopped
  • 1 mango – peeled and chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper – chopped
  1. In a frying pan, heat olive oil (pour to preference) or butter, then add the chicken breasts and fry until cooked on both sides.
  2. In a separate frying pan, put a few drops of olive oil and cook the onion until slight brown before adding the red bell pepper and cook on medium heat for approximately 2 ½ minutes – stirring frequently.
  3. Cut off the heat and add the mango and stir.
  4. Top the chicken with the mango mix and sprinkle with cilantro…enjoy!

There’s just something sexy about a man who can cook!  My husband cooks better than me and he teaches me different dishes to try, like the one above.  Breck, in Ash to Steele, is the owner of Kylianna’s restaurant and can cook some hot dishes.  Here’s a sneak peek at a scene where Breck cooks for Emma:

Joining me at the stove top, she leans against the counter, studying me.  “I thought you were supposed to be fully clothed while preparing food,” she teases.

“No pesky health codes in my home,” I give her a wink, causing her cheeks to color, ”but I can throw on my shirt if you want.”

“No.  That’s okay,” she stammers, “I mean, it doesn’t bother me.”  Her eyes quickly shift to my chest before she looks away.  “What can I help you do?”
