Beach Soiree – WWRAT Challenge

Welcome to the Wicked Wildfire Beach Soirée

I see many of you on the outskirts, clutching your Kindles, Books, your laptops and a myriad of other things you rescued as your quickly escaped the path of the wildfire that encroaches upon our little reading community. But alas my friends, I give you an evening of festiveness, a time to relax and enjoy yourself! For since this is an evening affair, I wave my magical snow spoon casting perpetual twilight upon our party beach front, the tiki torches will never need filling and always illuminate your reading. Our cabana boys will always have what you need, even if you just think it! As you can see, I have towels for each of you, changing tents for you and your date to change in, please sign the guest list and tell me who you have brought and what they are wearing. Add a link to their photo so we have a virtual scrapbook of this moment forever held in time.

OH dear, apparently a dead body washed up  but thankfully Katherine Nabity over at  The Writerly Reader had brought Sherlock Holmes and was able to get a quick handle of the situation. Thanks Kat! So glad to have had you there! The gremlins at Random.org thought so also because.. wait for it… wait for it…

CONGRATULATIONS KAT!!

OH my it was fabulous. EVERYONE’s was! I suggest you go and check out everyone’s entry! Katherine’s Entry can be read here, plus Sherlock’s outfit is FAB! Oh and it was not a Shark Attack! Perhaps it was Luke’s brothers evil side of the family, they are brilliant and since each side of the Tuatha de Daanan are in the middle of a war, well they could make a gun shot seem like a shark attack or vice versus.

(each entry was assigned a number and thank you random.org for making my first experience a painless one)

THIS CHALLENGE runs from 4PM Friday – 4PM Saturday

  • Your perfect beach (from a book, or a place or a cover)
  • Your perfect date (provide a link to cover or book)

Dark Waters (Celtic Legacy, #1)

Dark Waters (Celtic Legacy, #1)

(if you want a different scent head over she has tons, but this one is DIVINE and appropriate don’t you think!)

MINE are:
THIS BEACH of course, I worked HARD at training these cabana boys (it is modeled after Sunset Beach in Anacortes, WA where I played during the years every summer)
Anacortes, WA

Sunset Beach @ Sunset – Party Time! – Anacortes, WA

MY PERFECT DATE: Let me introduce you to Luke, an old school hottie who tends to follow the rules even if it hurts him. Which is why it’s so damn surprising I could draw him out of his routine for this little Beach bash! Of course, it didn’t hurt that I explained to him he’d be helping keep things under control. Luke will be dressing down to wear a Sarong to go with me and my own sarong with my favorite gold bikini (oh my PREFERRED SWIMWEAR was in the purse, I always carry it!) Though we do not have matching ones, his bronze sculpted body goes well with a beautiful batik pattern straight from Tahiti. Mine of course match my Star Wars Cos-Wear which happens to go well with the bikini… ok I admit it, the whole outfit is Star Wars Cos-Play but a fantasy date needs fantasy wear!

But let me tell you a bit about this golden haired, blue eyed, body of a ripped surfer, magic wielding kind of guy. Whose picture, quite frankly, barely does him justice.

This is my date Luke, Luke say hello and twirl for everyone!

Luke, is one of the Tuatha de Daanan. You know, Fae. Which means not only does he have the looks of a demi-god, but he has the Charm (ie ability to sway people to his way of thinking) to back it up. But that doesn’t mean he always gets what he wants, nope, because he’s a do-right kind of guy, he mostly gets the short end of the stick. He’s the one the higher ups send to do the “shit” jobs, the ones no one else wants because they know he’ll see them to the end. Because that’s just the kind of man he is.

He’s the good guy, through and through, trying so hard to do what’s right.

That being said, not all is well in Luke’s world. You see, he’s been waiting a LONG time for Ms. Right to show up, and, well, he’s lonely. When you are one of the Tuatha, you live a long, long time. Without anyone by your side, that time can seem to stretch even more.

Because beauty isn’t everything, and when you, Luke,  are prophesied to be with a certain person; all the other ladies tend to back away. I mean, really, who would want to tangle with messing up a prophecy about saving the world, just for a single night with Luke? Okay, yes, if you are looking at his picture, I’d agree. The world can go to hell in a handbasket for one night in those arms.

Monument 14

Monument 14 (Monument 14 #1)

But after tonight of dancing in his arms, and after the magic of the snow spoon disappates I will be curled up on my towel tracing 42 with a toe in the sand and reading MY BOOK OF CHOICE  Monument 14

So, who’s your hottie? What book did you rescue to read, or wish you had? Tell all!

(one entry per-person in comments or with a link back to your post!)

  9. Mercifully I answer three in one photograph (I’m on dial-up), though it is a priviledged one you’re seeing! My fiancé is a perfect date, friendly and game to sit back to enjoy anything. Every lady appreciates a swimsuit that fits them well. You’re glimpsing my navy blue traditional wear.

I’ve travelled with this swimwear and so too, with the date shown. The most astonishing, other-wordly beach for us was Xel-há, México in the Yucatan provincia. Everywhere you look is just glorious and spectacular fish join you. It’s strange there’s so much to do, when merely absorbing the phenomenon of this naturally-occurring aquarium is enough. The Tulum pyramid site, Mayan, is close.

I’d prefer seizing the day and reading at night, if at all on vacation but here are novels I hope to acquire in real copy, let alone read: “Homicide In Hardcover”, Kate Carlisle, “A New Kind Of Country”, Dorothy Gilman (features a beach), “The Midnight Side”, Natasha Mostert, “The Night Villa”, Carol Goodman. I’d sure use $10.00 in BookDepository novels and thank you very much for the shot.

  10. The html to embed photographs doesn’t seem to have worked, nor image codes (from Photobucket, a site that finally opened for me after numerous years). I don’t know if images will show up or if they’ll be a reference but direct link codes are right here.

  13. Ok, this was a tough one, but got it done, well, I was done last night but could not get online as my 2 year old neice was in town, and is a handful, and beats my laptop, so have to hide it. She just went down for a nap, so got some time. Here is my post with the pics, and everything in the updates in original post.
