Snow Day at the Cabin with Alaskan Goulash and Arctic Angels

Today is a snow day here at the cabin! I love sitting and looking out the window seeing it fall! Thankfully I have big strong ManBeast who will shovel when he gets home because MY idea of clearing snow and as you will see.. the answer is a lot more fun than playing with a shovel. Frankly shovels have their place in my world but usually they involve me braining the zombie coming towards me, then swinging the sharpened handing around and pegging him through the eye socket. (or her if one of the zombie strippers have gotten greedy for the blood soaked singles and tries to over run the compound again)

OK so supposedly we only had 7.4″ as of this morning, however yesterday morning we had cleared off our car, not Weezley the truck, but my Subaru… But Weezley the truck is buried! My wind chimes at least look pretty, and it is beautiful outside, and WARM! 25F and warm enough to go outside and dive head first into the snow drift with my spoon!

LIARS! HAH you can see how much from the car! It is the heaviest we have seen, obviously not as bad as they got down south this year! Let’s face it this car is a real snow mobile darlings! It was cleared 36 hours ago, now the poor thing is .. looking a bit like a cake! Yuuummmmy cake.. (grabbing the ingredients for a Willow Cake!) Yes please! This is a great excuse to bake, and I think I will make a quick pot of American Goulash.. you know a little moose meat… YUMMEH!

Snow Day Alaskan Goulash
This is basically American Goulash but this is that it is ALASKAN Goulash because it has moose meat! I did not create this recipe so if it in any way is like anyone elses honestly? I have made it this way for 20 years so 😛
  • 1 lb ground Moose Meat (or you poor souls in the -48 can use hamburger
  • 1 large onion , chopped
  • 1 large green pepper , chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • ½ tsp of salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 28 ounces diced tomatoes
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  1. Brown ground moose, onion and pepper.
  2. Season with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  3. Add tomatoes and tomato sauce.
  4. Simmer 10 minutes while macaroni is cooking.
  5. Boil macaroni al dente, drain, rinse.
  6. Return macaroni to pot, add moose mixture.
  7. Serve in bowls with shredded cheese.
  8. Great the next day, add a bit of tomato juice or water down tomato sauce if it is to dry. I even have splashed on some Italian dressing on top... YUMMEH!

 The snow is still falling… it is two hours later, I have dealt with two movie projects, zombie book tours, eBook reading and making my Goulash and now maybe.. just maybe.. I will try to make it to the outhouse without getting lost!!

OH man more snow is going to fall but this is a much better storm to have happen then the Wrath of Cold we had in January!

As it stands… I decided to lay down… no DIVE.. and make beautiful angels… my Arctic Angel is much more fun then freezing… Especially since I did this in my tie dye t-shirt, Crocs and fleece sweats!

  3. FUN!!! Can we trade days? I was stuck in an office preparing tax returns all day & then spent the last 3 hours carting kids around to various activities. I’d much rather be playing in the snow & eating goulash (although I think I’ll skip the moose part.)

    • hehehe NO worries! HAH Glad you found the snow pic. I dove in and did an Angel JUST so I could take that picture. I did not even put a coat on LOL
